Baby Blak, Noir Negro Kokujin, CEO of Cinema7 Multimedia Group, LLC
West Philly native and CEO of Cinema 7 Multimedia Group, Baby Blak, is a vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, arranger, and music business executive specializing in urban music. He has toured the world with DJ Jazzy Jeff when he was in Ill Advised, achieved Grammy consideration status, and is co-owner of Jay Blak Labs.
Blak started writing at the age of 10 and when he was 14 he saved up six months of allowance to pay for his first two hours of studio time. He came into the industry under Patti Labelle’s son’s label Quake City. He was one half of the group Ill Advised, the only group from Philly that was published in Vibe’s History of Hip Hop. They toured in France, London, Scotland, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Montreal, Vancouver, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Toronto, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Amsterdam, and all over the United Sates. He has performed with legendary acts including Wu-Tang Clan, Dilated Peoples, Eve, The Roots, Ghostface Killah, Redman, Keith Murray, Rocafella, Big Pun, Kindred, Lady Alma, Eric Robeson, Jazzy Jeff, and Raheem Devaughn.
Blak released four songs on Jazzy Jeff’s “The Magnificent” album, his first solo album, “Once You Go Blak”, “Black Saturday”, and “The Virgo Tape” Volumes 1 and 2. He has songs with Dilated Peoples, Alchemist, Obie Trice, Planet Asia, and has worked on projects with Bono from U2, Ben Watt, Estelle, and The World Famous Wake Up Show.
Black is a craft beer connoisseur and taste practitioner. He can make limbic, is knowledgeable about different hops and methods of brewing. He is also an integral part of his community, organizing and running fundraisers for back to school programs, medical & dental emergencies, single mothers, boys without role models, and more. He hopes to create a broader window of opportunity for everyone he comes in contact with and a legendary legacy.
